Business
The Fifth Discipline
Peter Senge, et. al.
This book is a
wonderful resource for understanding how business in America is changing and
in what ways it has to change. The twentieth century business strategies
and ways of relating to customers and employees alike no longer function
well or produce the desired results. This book explains strategic models
that cutting edge businesses are finding out and putting into place within
their organizations. I recommend it for all types of businesses. Even
employees could benefit from reading it because it will bring insight into
where we are headed and knowing this may create opportunities for you to
contribute to the shift in America and the world.
The Fifth Discipline Field Book

Peter Senge, et. al.
The Fifth Discipline

behaviors of the new organizational paradigm. This book is so encouraging,
and inspirational, because of it’s contribution to the understanding of new,
more enriching models of interaction that benefit both the company and the
worker. I recommend it for CEO’s, Business Owners, anyone that wants to
bring their organization into the modern era.
Strategy

Dudley Lynch and Paul
L. Kordis
This book is about
business strategies such as being a shark, a carp, and a dolphin. It
describes with clarity the psychological and behavioral strengths and
weaknesses of each strategy and each strategy’s inevitable limitations and
opportunities. This is an excellent book for understanding the shift in
business consciousness and for recognizing the depth of it’s potential
benefits both to business and to humanity itself.

The Raw Gourmet
Nomi Shannon
This is a wonderful
live foods recipe book that is perfect for the person that is unfamiliar
with live foods. Live foods can be warmed but are highly nutritious
because they are uncooked. Learn how to prepare foods that are highly
digestible thereby absorbing their complete nutritional value. I have found
that when my body receives the nutrients it needs from raw live foods such
as nuts, seeds, grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables, I physically feel
happier and more at ease. Far from being boring, these delightfully
colorful and flavorful foods also assist us in optimum elimination, which
facilitate the body to rid it self of toxins. This is a great cookbook for
health. Eat it up!!
Parenting
Non-Violent Communication
A Language of
Compassion
Marshall B. Rosenberg,
Ph.D.
This book is wonderful
for parents wishing to gain communication skills that can be used with
children and in all relationships. There are also other books and videos
available from this author for communicating with children. See the
Relationships section for more explanation of this book.
Raising Self-Reliant Children In a Self-Indulgent World
Seven Building Blocks for Developing
Capable Young People
H. Stephen Glenn
Jane Nelsen, Ed.D.
This is a great book
for parents with children old enough to talk through the teen-age years.
Much of the lessons in dialogue, collaboration, and basic training in
capabilities can also be used in any adult relationship as well. You’ll
learn to help your children to trust themselves, persevere, solve problems,
and not be stopped by mistakes. Parents that wish to shift away from the
patriarchal parenting model, yet retain their authority as a parent in a
firm, yet equitable way should read this book.
Positive Discipline
Jane Nelsen, Ed.D.
This book served as a
foundation for my ability to communicate with my high school aged son that
was always so angry and my 10 year old son that would sometimes only pay
attention when physical power entered the transaction. Jane Nelsen offers
guiding principles, simply and clearly that can be used from the toddler age
thru high school. She points out what to do about power struggles, and says
no matter what you are saying to your child, always make sure that the
message of your love gets through. That had a transforming affect on my own
relationship with my children, and was also useful in transforming how I
interacted with my spouse. I highly recommend this book and her workshops.
The 7 Worst Things Parents Do
John C. Friel, Ph.D.
Linda D. Friel, M.A.
This book was written
for parents and families who are in crisis or on the verge of crisis, but
may not be aware of it. (This book is not about abuse.) In chapter five,
John and Linda ask you if you are pushing your child into too many
activities and then discusses the possible cost to your child of doing so,
such as the potential for loss of emotional intimacy. This book covers
perspectives, behaviors, what’s the problem and what to do instead. It’s a
great book for parents. You’ll want to share it with your friends.
Personal Growth
The Open Mind
Dawna Markova
Most of us have heard
a little bit about learning styles, but Dawna Markova takes learning styles
to a whole new level. Our learning style is how we process the information
from our life experience through our consciousness. Our life experience is
received through 3 main avenues, visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (senses,
and feelings). These avenues correspond to our conscious, sub conscious and
unconscious mind. For example, we may be consciously visual, sub
consciously auditory and unconsciously kinesthetic. There are six possible
learning style processing modes. If you want to understand why you make
lists and your spouse stacks things in piles, how come reading puts you to
sleep and how understanding your child’s learning style will help them do
better in school, this author has the answers. This book is also a valuable
tool toward self-knowledge and self-acceptance. It will also help you to
understand your spouse. It may take a little work to wrap your mind around
it, but it is well worth the neuron stretching. The Open Mind is a
wonderful learning opportunity and is my favorite book from the author. I
encourage you to read it now.
No Enemies Within
Dawna Markova
This is another of
Dawna Markova’s excellent books. The subject is learning styles, but she is
speaking to the experience of serious disease and offers a creative, and
compassionate perspective on discovering what’s right about what’s wrong.
Dawna’s writing style is warm and nurturing. This book is worth it’s price
just to read the numerous quotes in the margins. The back of the book
contains a test which will identify your own learning style. I loved
reading it.
Love Is Letting Go Of Fear
Gerald Jampolski
This is a book that is
simply written and has simple drawings, but can have a comforting, and
releasing impact. I keep it as a resource book when I am feeling my most
fearful, and I offer it’s grounding effect to my children and friends as
well. Reading it causes me to get out of being stuck in fear of the future,
and feel comfort and trust in my now. I highly recommend it as a comfort
book.
Self Matters
Phillip C. McGraw, Ph.D.
This is a wonderful
book that will assist you in greater self-knowledge. With stories, and
clearly presented information, Dr. Phil guides us through a personal
investigation of the defining moments, critical choices, and pivotal people
that have influenced our concepts of our self and our world. He then asks
us to make choices as to the truth of these concepts and decide if we wish
to continue to live by them. A powerful book, I recommend it highly for
people who acknowledge we create our world from the inside
out.
Gift From The Sea
Anne Morrow
Lindbergh
This book is such a
wonderful book for getting grounded. It is written in a style that is
extremely visually descriptive, enriching to the senses, and nurturing to
the soul. This is a must read for all women. I consider it a profound
comfort book.
Relationships
Nonviolent Communication
A Language of Compassion
Marshall B. Rosenberg,
Ph.D.
Non violent
Communication gives us examples of how to think, feel, and express in ways
that are connected to feelings and needs. Feelings and needs are universal
and when we speak to them, we will always strike a cord of
understanding and mutuality. This author is on the cutting edge of
communication strategies in the new millennium, having taught individuals,
businesses, and parents, and been an invited guest to work with tribes in
Africa, and facilitate cooperation between Israel and Palestine. He teaches
us how to be honest while we curiously look beyond the surface to see the
deeper meaning of the interaction. To stand in a position of our own
responsibility and power, yet to listen and connect. We care, but are not
obligated. I highly recommend reading his books and participating in his
worldwide workshops.
Dancing In The Dark
The Shadow Side of Intimate Relationships
Douglas & Naomi Moseley
Dancing in the dark is
a book about relationships. It is rich in stories that demonstrate common
reasoning behind behaviors that are contrary to the health of the
relationship and even to our own well-being. Presented from a psychological
and behavioral viewpoint, this book illuminates how and why couples relate
to each other in difficult, recurring behavioral patterns. Dancing In The
Dark is intended for couples who have chosen relationship as their pathway
to increased consciousness, and for individuals who have not been successful
in sustaining a nourishing relationship and are ready to look inward for the
reasons why. I found this book to be extremely insightful and useful in
improving my understanding of my own behavioral motivations and in knowing
what to do instead.
Mentoring
The TAO of Giving and Receiving Wisdom
Chungliang Al Huang and
Jerry Lynch
Based on the Chinese TAO, each section of this book
presents a mentoring principle, which is shown in text and elegant Chinese
and English calligraphy. This book is an inspirational avenue for learning
to relate to our self and others as equals and is a wonderful reminder of
values worth incorporating into our everyday interactions. I recommend
keeping a copy of this book for your self, and giving it as a gift to a
special friend or co-worker.
Spiritual
Anatomy of The Spirit
Caroline Myss, Ph.D.
This book made a huge
impact on my life. Caroline Myss is a renowned Medical Intuitive. The
story of her personal expertise in interacting with her clients as energy
beings is awesome. She teaches us to understand our chakras as energy
vortexes as well as energetic emotional centers. Our perspectives, and
emotional states affect the function and health of our chakras as well as
our physical health and well-being. Caroline ties the anatomy of our
chakras to worldwide spiritual truths and principles, and teaches us how to
relate to our Self as the infinite being that we are. Each chapter offers
a list of questions for self-examination. This book is all about
simultaneous personal and spiritual growth. I highly recommend it,
especially when combined with the Anatomy of the Spirit audio tapes.
Illusions
The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah
Richard Bach
This is a wonderful
story that is meant to help us to let go of the restrictions that bind us.
It helps us to realize that there are always hundreds of possibilities and
hundreds of choices. We are free to choose, but first me must transform the
illusory beliefs that limit us. Illusions presents a concept of freedom
that is uplifting and liberating. I encourage you to enjoy it and to
utilize it’s wisdom.
Conversations With God, books 1,
2, 3
Neale Donald Walsch
These wonderful books
are about consciousness and about our relationship with our self as God and
with God. Refreshing, relaxing and inspiring, these books are encouraging,
empowering, and awakening. I loved them.
Power vs. Force
Dr. David Hawkins
This is a book for the spiritually experienced. Some
of what Dr. Hawkins expresses can only be understood through experience,
some is understood through science, and some is common sense. One of the
important truths I got out of it is that power is aligned with love, and
that love is universal power. Real power has nothing to do with force. For
those of us that are learning about how to shift away from the model of
patriarchal power, this book will speak to you.
